It’s deeply troubling to witness the ongoing erosion of our democratic institutions and the selective application of our constitutional rights. Every news cycle seems to reveal more corruption, more injustice, and more disregard for the principles that should unite us(a) as Americans. We may be betting all of our lives and the lives of queer generations to come on what we do in this moment.
As a gay brown man from Utah and a proud United States Citizen, I’m alarmed by the hypocrisy and cruelty of those in power who claim moral authority over me and you while enabling exploitation, racism, and abuse. The protection of wealthy predators at the expense of our democracy is not just immoral—it’s dangerous.
What about his victims? Is that the world we want our daughters to grow up in? One where we protect dirty old rich corrupt men? Who hurt and touch little girls? (Look, I may like dirty old men, but that is completely a different thing. I’m an adult. And ewe to them, those disgusting men coerced little girls, or bruised their vulnerable souls and then raped them kids.)
We are living through a pivotal moment in American history. The threat isn’t just external—it’s coming from within. The president and his rich as fuck allies have undermined our institutions, sold out our values, and continue to spread division and hate. Their actions jeopardize free and fair elections, civil rights, and the very fabric of our society.
This isn’t just about politics—it’s about humanity. Our lives, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or background, are interconnected. We must stand together to protect the freedoms promised to all Americans, not just a privileged few. They have us(a) worried about the wrong 1%.
I urge everyone to prepare—not out of fear, but out of responsibility. We must be ready to defend our rights, our communities, and our future. Silence and inaction are no longer options. If no one else is going to say it, I will… go buy that extra food and put that shit in storage. Get some water and other emergency type needs. Who knows, maybe you should get a couple extra refills on your Prep- we never know if we are going to need antibiotics of some sort in the unknown, scary future. We need to be scared of losing our freedoms, but we then we need to find the hope, and make a plan about it.
As someone who believes in both justice and faith, I reject the misuse of religion to justify oppression. True Christianity calls for love, compassion, and truth—not hypocrisy and hate. Jesus loves all of us(a), and it’s time we stop allowing others to weaponize His name against marginalized communities. A true Christian realizes they don’t go hurting or murdering other innocent human beings because some old geriatric rich bully nerd tells them to. THAT IS NOT CHRISTIAN – as I believe Christianity to be.
We rise or fall together. The fight against white supremacy, corruption, and environmental destruction together. This planet is a shared one. We must act now to preserve what’s left of our democracy and ensure a better future for generations to come.
I’m exhausted watching the daily dismantling of our democracy and the rape and murder of our US Constitution. But I’m also encouraged by the resilience of Americans—especially here in California—who are standing up against authoritarian threats and working to preserve our freedoms, like Kimmel and Colbert. And what other comedians have done continue to do and what, dems, republicans, and well most of the country can do together.
Human life is short, and the stakes are high. So, I ask: What are you willing to do to protect the rights and liberties of future generations? Get off your asses, and make sure everyone you know is registered to vote that can. All of our lives depend on it. ALL OF US(A). I don’t want you, me, they/them, and us(a) to end up in those concentration camps. And you know like I do- that’s what their goal is. They are going to steal everything from us(a) if we let them.
It’s overwhelming to witness the erosion of our institutions day after day. In times like these, it’s essential to find community—people who believe in equality, justice, and the foundational truth that America is not ruled by a king or dictator.
You deserve to be safe and surrounded by those who love and support you, regardless of your background or income. None of us(a) should feel alone right now—and I remind myself of that often.
(I love my little old man friend Rhonda Rae and he reminds me all the time that I’m not alone out here.)
We are not alone. We are stronger together.
The threats we face are real. The rhetoric and actions of certain leaders must be taken seriously. When innocent lives are lost, when international laws are violated, when the intentional destruction of our American way of life, and when war is provoked for personal gain, we must respond—not with fear, but with resolve.
The Constitution was designed with guardrails to prevent tyranny. But those safeguards only work when good people are elected and actually uphold their oath to defend against threats—foreign and domestic. We must hold our leaders accountable and demand integrity. We must also remind our service members they swore an oath to uphold the Constitution- and not a tyrant.
And we have to remember as Americans we have so much more in common than we do different, like our American Dreams and our possibilities. Those evil sobs can only make our American dream a nightmare if we let them. We can’t just hand it to them.
I encourage everyone to prepare—not out of panic, but out of prudence. Stock up on essentials: beans, rice, clean water, filters, batteries, candles, and basic medical supplies. Preparation not only protects your household but also eases the burden on emergency services in times of crisis. Who knows, we might just be heading into a crisis, if we aren’t already there. There is no harm in preparing for tough times and it looks like they may just be around the corner.
We’ve seen what happens when leadership fails. Millions died during his last term in office, by his and his administration’s mishandling of a global pandemic. We cannot afford to be caught off guard again. Covid is also going around our communities. That RFK dude is a joke and will kill us(a) all if we don’t prepare and stop him. And dare, I remind people to get vaccinated. Ugh, so stupid to even have to say it.
This is a defining moment. We either stand together to defend democracy, or we risk losing it, farmers risk losing their lands, and we the people risk losing our safety, security and way of life. The future of our country depends on our collective action, our courage, and our commitment to truth and justice. Sometimes we have to fight for our right to love, work, and in certain times in history- to exist! We must defend our freedoms. I’ve grown too accustomed to them. They will take everything if we let them. Get off the sofa and go register someone to vote!
God Bless Democracy. God Bless the United States of America.
The Happy Homo
PS No matter what anyone else tells you in this life… empathy, the power of empathy (and really love, hope, and equality) is not weakness, it’s a strength. I encourage you to lean into it, bathe in it, and don’t be afraid to put yourself in someone else’s shoes as it relates to experiences, history, obstacles they face, or their own personal set of struggles. It’s not weak to care about your fellow American and human being.
PSS Ladies, I don’t know if I’d sell your Disney stocks just yet. Don’t be too hasty. Them oppressors/suppressors may just be counting on you to sell so they can buy it up at a cheaper rate. If anything, hold the stock and be a nail in the new CEO’s side and get him out of that position if he is leading Disney down the wrong path, and he is. I’m praying that Disney does the right thing and that mouse turns out to not be so mousey about fighting a dictatorship. But definitely quit your Hulu and Disney +. I stand with Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. (I let my Paramount + membership lapse and I’m not sure if I need to renew it just yet.) Together we are more powerful…when we act together, we are stronger and then they are forced to listen. Do cancel Hulu and Disney + and wait for a collective move on all others except Disneyland. They wouldn’t refund my season pass because I called to check today. I won’t be renewing that either if things don’t change. We may all have to move in unison from now on to stop this evil.
PSSS If you’re not panicking right now because some crazy sociopathic narcissist is in charge and destroying our country- you are not paying attention. They are counting on your not paying attention, ignoring it, and burying your head in apps because that makes us(a) easier to manage. We don’t want to be easy to manage- so wake the fuck up!
PSSSS God help us(a). Lord, hurry back please.
PSX5 They are firing everyone in the administration who will not do his cruel evil bidding. Like the CDC lady and the guy today that is resigning because of that fat nerd’s pressure for him to step down became too loud. All because he wouldn’t prosecute someone at Trump’s will. People are losing their federal jobs because they won’t do his bidding.
PSX6 You know he’s the devil. I know he’s the devil. Lord help us(a), protect us(a) and guide us(a).
PSx7 So many of us(a) have already left our own country because of this evil man and the predictability of his ability to encamp us(a). But not all of us(a) can afford to leave and someone of us(a) don’t want to. I know of a bunch of queer married men that have already left this once great nation. So sad. I’m so glad England hates him too. King Charles heeeey- not all of us(a) are like him. Most of us(a) are not.
