The day Bad Bunny ruled the world just happened to be Super Bowl Sunday. Inside that stadium, the temperature was set to love. Across our once great nation we’ve experienced awful temperatures from coast to coast; it’s been freezing with the cold hatred from ICE and this diabolical regime. And even though I’m not a big football fan, I tuned in for one reason: mi gente Latino. I tuned in for the concert—and OMFG he delivered.
Lately, the loudest voices in our world have been the ugliest ones, the ones trying to convince brown people that they don’t belong. But watching that performance felt like the universe reminding us(a) who we really are. When you saw those dancers moving with and in joy—joy that came straight from our ancestors—you were looking at something powerful. And if anyone has ever tried to convince you that you’re “less than,” well… fuck that.
As a brown gay man, I’ve lived a lifetime of hearing lies about who I am or who we are in their eyes. But I’ve also learned this truth: our joy is holy. Our existence is holy. And the American Dream—whatever shape it takes—is ours too. I chose to believe that God and the American Dream is available to all of us(a).
As Latinos, we’ve got work to do for the next generation. The little brown kids—babies like Liam (and the kid that looked like Liam whom was handed the Grammy by Bad Bunny tonight)—don’t always understand the weight of the things they’re exposed to. They just know what they feel. And sometimes what they feel is hurt. It’s our responsibility to undo the damage, to remind them of their worth, and to show them they are deserving of every single opportunity this country promises. Their spirits are tender, and we have to protect them.
They are too young to realize the disappearing of people because of the color of their skin is unAmerican, disgusting and from the devil. Unfortunately, they are seeing some evil vile shit all while being told they are less than… and drug addicts, rapists, and criminals- but we can’t let them believe it. We can’t let them believe in those hate filled lies from the pedo protectors. (We know who’s in those Epstein files and it’s not Latinos, drag queens or trans people.) We all need to show them extra love from now and until years after this hateful regime is dismantled and America is restored. Hate doesn’t get to win. YOU need to show up- there is no sitting out the next election or giving up. Future generations are depending on you!
I think that’s why they didn’t want you to tune into the Bad Bunny performance. Cause that show was full of HOPE, LOVE, and JOY! That’s why they tried to create a second half time show-which is reported to have been a lip sync failure at astronomical proportions. HA! They didn’t want you/us(a) to remember how beautiful you look when you are dancing, how great you look when you smile while you are singing, and how courageous you are as you love without fear. They didn’t want you to remember your POWER, but we saw it anyway! Fuck their hate- we’ve got love for each other.
And honestly? This blog post came from pure emotion. I’m overwhelmed with pride—Mexican American, gay, Christian, a kid from Utah who grew up to love his brown skin, curly hair and everything being Latino carries. I’m proud of who I am today and every day, no matter what lies they try to tell about our people, about us(a). I’m proud of my roots.
YOU will not make me feel bad about my brown skin or who I am. YOU cannot make me feel ashamed of my brown skin. However, YOU should be ashamed to support a pedo in the WH or in any walks of life.
Bad Bunny’s performance was incredible, and seeing so many Latinx artists dancing at his side was the Cherry on top of this Superbowl Sundae. You naughty Bunny—you definitely inspired some naughty thoughts tonight. *Gets Tissues* Yummy.
God bless Benito Antonio Martinez Oscasio (Bad Bunny), Liam Ramos (and the Laim look alike tonight), and all our brown brothers, sisters, and gender nonconforming people across this continent. YOU ALL MATTER! Thank you to all those who don’t share our skin tone but still show up for us(a). God bless you for standing up for what is right and for the Constitution. Thank you for showing up for us(a) with love. Bad Bunny is making me want to learn Spanish… but for now, I’ll settle for the dancing.
May the Lord keep us(a) all safe. Like my grandparents used to say, “Dios de Bendiga”
Bad Bunny Fan Girl Out,
The Happy Homo
PS This is how you heal a wounded people… “Bad Bunny sparked widespread debate during his Super Bowl LX halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, after a moment many viewers initially interpreted as a political statement. The 31-year-old superstar, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was seen handing his Grammy Award to a young boy during the performance, prompting online speculation that the child represented five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, who was detained by ICE last month.”
It is reported to not have been Liam but that is the exact response we should all be having- BRAVO Bunny Man.

Again, it was not Liam but he sure made the world think it was. BRILLIANT!!!!!
We should be talking about Liam and the crimes against humanity, the child abuse our kids are experiencing, and the torture our people are facing because of the greed from the owners of these American concentration camps.
