Dearest Momma Ruples, (said like a little old Mexican grandma)
I’ll probably never have the opportunity to fangirl in front of you so I wanted to take a moment to say a big heartfelt thank you. Thank you for everything you do. When you put happy homos and trans superstars on the television screens it creates an opportunity for me to refill my cup. I’m a mental health therapist and I think I’m pretty good at what I do. More times than not- so do my clients. I get a chance to help our community members process, honor, and sometimes even celebrate grief and loss, work through depression, and reduce anxiety and isolation. I help people feel better just by listening. Our people have been silenced, ignored, and abused for so long it affects us long term. It weighs heavy on people’s spirits. I see it and I feel it myself.
The feeling I get when a client smiles and laughs in a session and then visibly looks more at ease… well that’s the feeling I get when I watch Drag Race. I’m smiling the same way as I write this letter of appreciation. Drag Race and writing my impure thoughts and feelings in a blog are my forms of therapy. After a long work week, I just feel happier and better after watching the show every Friday.
I try to live in gratitude, sometimes I forget, but that’s how I want to live my life; in gratitude. So that’s what prompts this letter. I appreciate everything you do- YOU ARE A DREAM MAKER at the highest queer level! That is amazing and remarkable in a world where so many go out of their way to be a dream breaker for queer people. You’ve done more for the queer community than anyone else in existence, representation matters! It’s harder for them to hate us if they know how fucking great we are. You let them into our world, in turn we get into their homes. Then more often than not, they soften their hearts towards us because you humanize us.
I said what I said, “It’s harder for them to hate us if they know us.” You’ve changed and continue to change minds, hearts, and the country for the better with this platform. That’s great work! You’ve literally brought many of our queer brothers and sisters out of poverty. They have a chance at a different life because of YOU! I honor that shit and as a fellow gay human being – I humbly thank you because in the long run it will make my life and the lives of future queers easier. It shows us there’s a place for us in this world. It shows us there’s love for us out there if we don’t get it at home or from our community, we just need to go out and look for it. And reminding people to not give up the search after being hurt repeatedly is something I get to work on with people- because you refill my cup.
Your response to the recent events and targeted attack on the queer community and drag queens (specially) moved me! It gave me the Jennifer Lopez Affleck goosies. The negative messages directed at our community and really women, the black community, the Jewish community, Asians, Muslims, and Mexicans are designed to be so loud and deafening that we fear getting out to vote. Together, united we are the majority and with our votes can ensure the safety and security of all of us going forward. Voting with love and equality as our intention can move mountains and save queer lives.
Good for YOU! And good for US that you exist, take up space, and THRIVE! When you win- you make sure we all win and that’s some respectable ass shit!
With Deep Love and Gratitude,
The Happy Homo
PS Congratulations to you and your ride or die bitches/judges on 200 episodes.
PSS Yes, “Drag queens are the Marines of the Queer Movement.” They fight back! They gritty, bitchy, and will cut a bitch with their words etc. when they have to. Always been the first ones to fight back.
PSSS This cast is insanely talented – that bitch came out and jumped roped with her huuuuurrr! Everyone is sooo good.
PSSSS Marcia Marcia Marcia did the double cry last night! That was some endearing heart felt shit. Her appreciation and gratitude came the through the tv.
PSSSSS Watching Marcia Marcia Marcia lip sing… thinking wow how the fuck to you do better than that? Knock, knock? Who dat? Anetra to answer that question, SHABLAM, “Just like dis.” She jumped over that bitch while she was doing a backbend. Smacked her own ass and said, “And like dis. And dis.” “I’m a bitch. I’m a boss. I’m a bitch and boss and I shine like gloss.” A motha’ fucking mazing. Bravo! Wow!
PSSSSSS “Let’s consider it that.” HAHAAAAHA! Get dat bitch! LOL. I’m so excited to watch Luxx, Mistress, EsTitties, and Superstar Sahsa Colby to see them rock shit! Loosey is good too but reminds me of Utah in general, a lot of entitled white people taking away other people’s enjoyment/moment because they can. But she deserves to exist and have opportunities too.
PSSSSSSS I hear talk about who is the Beyonce, JLO, or Britney of drag… I hope they dream bigger. I want to see who is the next Ru Paul not just drag but gay humanitarianism. Whos is that going to be? Who is going to help everyone else’s queer dreams come true? Ru Paul is bigger than drag at this point. She’s DREAM MAKER!
PSSSSSSSS- Vote blue bitches- that’s how we keep changing our country for the better.
PSSSSSSSSS Therapy isn’t my first choice for a job but I’m a good at it. Helping make sure people have opportunities in various forms is what makes my nipples hard. 😊
Eeeeeeeeeeeeek can’t want for next Friday. It brings me joy, queer joy! And yes, I know that’s not how PS (postscript) works you judgy bitches. PPS vs PSS, but I’m gonna do me and do it like we did it in high school. Jenny Mead where’s my notes? 😊
