Title I: A Dad’s Love
Today I go to the Oncologist for my follow up visit. I’ll be there in 30 minutes. I’m scared as fuck but plan on doing whatever it takes to stick around for a long ass time. I wanted to share this because cancer has me in thought and I wrote a kid’s book about love (amongst other stuff). Here it is- it needs a little work and an illustrator. No matter what he says, I hope that for the rest of my life I always have the intention to make the world a better place through love. Should I stray, because I’m human, I hope to realign with that intention. Love is my intention.
Fingers crossed that he gives me some good news today! Last time he said, “Don’t freak out yet.” I hope he doesn’t say, “Okay, now it’s time to freak out!” Instead presents a great plan that is doable and something I can conquer.
Here’s my little kid’s story. (Draft of course) (Ron says I need to shorten it and I likely will but want to put it out in its raw form too).
A Dad should love you…. Here
A Dad should love you…. There
A Dad should love you…. Over here
A Dad should love you…. Over there
A Dad should love you…. No matter what you wear.
A Dad should love you…. With any kind of hair.
A Dad should love you…. No matter how you dress.
A Dad should love you…. Even if you forget to pick up your mess.
A Dad should love you…. If you come in last.
A Dad should love you…. Even if you are the best.
A Dad should love you…. Even if you’re shopping at the mall.
A Dad should love you…. Despite any wall.
A Dad should love you…. While you’re riding bikes.
A Dad should love you…. If you’re flying a kite.
A Dad should love you…. When you are mad.
Because you were caught for being bad.
A Dad should love you…. Here
A Dad should love you…. There. A Dad should love you everywhere.
A Dad should love you…. No matter who you love.
A Dad should love you…. While you grub!
A Dad should love you…. On your graduation
Or your wedding day.
A Dad should love you…. When you are a teen
And probably getting grumpy or even mean.
A Dad should love you…. When you are young.
A Dad should love you…. When you get old.
You are one special and kind lovable soul.
A Dad should love you…. No matter what you eat.
A Dad should love you…. Even if you have stinky feet.
A Dad should love you…. If you’re scared or if you’re brave.
A Dad should love you…. In a rainbow
Or in a cloud.
A Dad should love you…. All year around.
A Dad should love you…. Early in the day
And when the sun shines the shadows away.
A Dad should love and protect you…. Even in the dark of night.
A Dad should love you…. Even if you argue or you fight.
A Dad should love you…. Even if give shade.
A Dad should love you…. If your bed is unmade.
A Dad should love you…. If you are rich or poor.
This Dad loves you…. And doesn’t think he could love you anymore.
A Dad should love you…. Over here
A Dad should love you…. Over there
